Professor Lee uses an advanced approach to ACL reconstruction that reduces patient recovery times and the potential for re-injury while increasing patients’ strength during the healing process to their pre-injury level of fitness. While the technique has been perfected over the last 15 years by top surgeons from around the world, it is not available at many clinics due to the cutting-edge equipment it requires.
The advanced procedure reduces damage done to the patient during surgery by making it possible to complete the reconstruction while only harvesting one, instead of two, hamstrings. Professor Lee also uses several advanced techniques to reduce the amount of mechanical drilling required, and the post-operative trauma to bones and tendons.
Professor Lee’s clinic also provides access to Lincolnshire’s only Open MRI Scanner, which allows for several types of diagnostic scans that are not possible with traditional equipment. Open MRI Scanners are ideal for patients with claustrophobia because of their open shape but are also used to scan joints in ways that a standard MRI cannot.
The Open MRI Scanner allows Professor Lee’s team to scan injured joints while they are bent at various angles, and when they are in motion.
